Liliaceae

The plants of the Liliaceaefamily are of the Monocot class and represented byapproximately 3,700 species spread throughout the world.They are perennial herbaceous plants with a root system, bulb or tuber, and more rarely semi-shrubs or lianas. The leaves are alternately arranged at the base of the stem or on the stem.They have linear, lancet or elliptic form with parallel or bow-shaped veins.The flowers with a regular six-lobbed perianth (consisting of 6 petals) and with 6 stamens arranged in a two circles.The seed-vessel is of 3 accreted carpels with a superior ovary. The fruitis a capsule or a berry. In Bulgaria there grow approximately 80 species of20 genera that are naturallyspread.
