A one week training under the HEI PLADI Project was held in the Botanic Gardens in Varna and Balchik

Participants from 5 universities from 4 countries were invited to take part in a practical training under the HEI PLAIDI Project on the the Botanic Gardens Management topic. The guests visited both Black Sea Botanic Gardens, and were given the opportunity to become acquainted in details with the unique features of the Botanic Garden Ecopark (Varna), as well as with the development and upgrading of a Historic Park into a Botanic Garden, the way it is in the one by the town of Balchik.
During one whole week the international group of students took part in a series of interactive activities, practical field work, theoretical, educational and research tasks. The program provided an opportunity to the participants to see different aspects of the activity of the administrative, scientific and garden personnel in a botanic garden; to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a specific site, and to generate ideas for its development in accordance with the missions of the botanic gardens and the trends specified in the Manual for the Management of Botanic Gardens issued by the BGCI. The students showed good understanding of these educational and scientific institutions, and they took active part in the different activities, and highly praised the training.
It is a pleasure to us to have found new friends who showed professional and amateur interest to again visit the University Botanic Gardens – Varna, Balchik and Sofia.
