AUTUMN-SPRING SOWING FLOWERS SEASON 2018-2019 IN THE UNIVERSITY BOTANIC GARDEN-BALCHIK

Colorful autumn and an even more colorful spring in the Botanic Garden

This year, autumn-spring sowing of plants began in the beginning of October with the planting of 43,700 root seedlings produced in UBG-Balchik from different spring-flowering decorative species - 74 varieties of violets (Viola x wittrockiana, Viola cornuta), 3 varieties of Myosotis spp., Silene sp., Cheiranthus sp., Bellis perennis.
 
Visitors of the garden will be able to enjoy a wide variety of bulb spring flowering species. The most impressive will be the tulips. 57 900 bulbs are going to be planted, including 27,400 bulbs of 45 varieties that have been purchased this year. 12 are the new varieties for the garden that will be seen for the first time.
 
Other bulb spring flowering plants visitors will see this spring are: Crocus sp., 2 Fritillaria sp., Hyacinthus sp., 4 varieties of cucumber (Muscari sp.), Narcissus (Narcissus sp.), Blue (Scilla sp.), Puschkinia sp., and others.
 
Depending on the winter, the first flowering of the bulbous species is expected from the beginning to the third week of March.
