The long-awaited Tulip Parade at the University Botanical Garden of Balchik is at its peak. Come and explore the seasonal collection of spring-blooming species during the upcoming days of April.

This year, the color palette includes over 45,000 bulbs from 63 different cultivars of both garden and botanical tulips. Among them, 27 new varieties are being introduced to the garden, spanning all groups of tulips (early, mid-early, late, and botanical) and classes: Single Early and Late Tulips, Double Early and Late Tulips, Triumph Tulips, Darwin Hybrid Tulips, Lily-flowered Tulips, Fringed Tulips, Parrot Tulips, Multicolored Tulips, and Fosteriana Botanical Tulips.

New for this year is the Tulipa ‘Carnaval de Nice’, a representative of the Late Double Tulips class, with colors combining white with vibrant pink and red stripes. This variety will bloom in the Flower Parterre of the Nursery Garden. We also welcome Tulipa ‘Parrot Prince’ from the Parrot Tulips class, which can be seen in the Carnation Garden, and Tulipa ‘La Courtine’, a Triumph-class tulip, which will bloom with a colorful and delicate cup in the parterres of the Divine Garden.

These captivating tulip varieties are arranged in stunning and vibrant compositions, where, in the autumn of 2024, species from the Hyacinthus, Narcissus, and Muscari genera were also planted. Along with the bulbous plants, spring-flowering cultivars of species from the Viola, Myosotis, Bellis, and Dianthus genera are also featured.

The collection is displayed in its greatest diversity in the Flower Parterres of the Nursery Garden and the Divine Garden, with blooming expected to continue through the end of April. The University Botanical Garden of Balchik is open to visitors every day from 08:30 am to 19:00 pm.
