Kalanchoe is a large genus of the Crassulaceae family, composed of about 125 species of flowering succulent plants native to Madagascar and tropical Africa.
A beautiful representative of the genus is Kalanchoe zimbabwensis. This is a perennial flowering plant up to 30 cm high but its flowering stem may exceed 50 cm in height. The whole plant is covered with fine hairs (trichomes). Leaves are bright green in colour, opposite and fleshy, 5-10 cm long, with serrated edges. It has continuous bloom period with many small yellow - orange flowers. This rare and beautiful species can be seen in the greenhouses of UBG - Sofia.
